While other owners have remained silent on the murder of George Floyd, Raiders owner Mark Davis has made his voice heard. It’s not the first time Davis has spoken on the issue of social injustice, and he continues to lead from the front.
Back in 2017 at the height of the Colin Kaepernick protests back in 2017, Mark Davis spoke out, siding with his players rather than the NFL “The only thing I can ask them to do is do it with class. Do it with pride. Not only do we have to tell people there is something wrong, we have to come up with answers.”
That was nearly three years ago, and sadly, other than Colin Kaepernick being blackballed by the NFL little has changed.
Mark Davis continues to lead
On Sunday, Davis said this to ESPN: “I want to get together with players, coaches and community leaders to get the conversation going, to discuss how to go forward. The solutions start here at the local level, with the attorney general, the sheriff and other community leaders to open up lines of communication. That’s the beginning.
“Not only do we have to tell people there’s something wrong, we have to come up with solutions—as Americans and human beings. I’m trying to be positive but truthful.”
